In all spheres, science is advancing and developing in important ways. However, to truly have impact, science needs to be communicated to key audiences, in effective ways, and at appropriate times. At Honeyguide, we offer three core science communication services to help scientists boost the impact of their work.

To develop effective science communication strategies we work with our clients to map out their key audiences across scales, sectors and value chains.

We then consider the information needs of those audiences to determine how and when to effectively share scientific content with them.

We ensure that these science communication strategies are cost-effective, achievable and aligned to the timing of the client’s research and emerging findings.

We synthesise and copy-edit scientific and technical material and make it more understandable, compelling and succinct.

We design a wide array of science communication products including infographics, information and policy briefs, reports, media articles, websites, and general marketing material.

Where appropriate we explore novel communication products and activities that are well suited to the particular needs of key audiences.

We strengthen the capacity of individuals and groups to conduct strategic, effective and sustainable science communication.

Working together with Human Element Communications we offer science communication training for individuals, groups and organisations. With a focus on humanising science, and the people who do it, we invite scientists to explore and develop the powerful stories that help audiences connect with their work.

We pair this human focus with practical tools for strategically, cost-effectively and professionally communicating science with their target audiences and the media.

We deliver work of the highest quality, bringing strategic thinking, efficiency and attention to detail to everything we do.

  • "The multi-layered science communication strategy that Tali (Honeyguide’s Director) developed for our organisation helped us to understand how to have real impact on our key audiences, and how to achieve this impact given our small team and funding limitations. She helped us play to our strengths and was a real pleasure to engage with."

Nicoli Nattrass, Co-Director. Institute for Communities and Wildlife in Africa (iCWild)

  • “Tali (Honeyguide’s Director) is probably the most impressive science communicator I have ever had the fortune of working with. She has a unique (and rare) ability to fully grasp research findings, understand the methods and associated uncertainties behind these, and then communicate the findings in a wide variety of innovative formats and to different kinds of audiences.”

Georgina Cundill Kemp, Senior Program Officer. International Development Research Centre (IDRC)
  • “Tali (Honeyguide’s Director) is able to translate research into messaging that is powerful and understandable to the layperson, but that maintains scientific integrity. This is especially important for our fundraising campaigns, as evocative and accurate messaging helps our donors to better connect with our work and inspires their ongoing support."
